Though the HSS rolls are improved from the traditional ones, their use environment is greatly different. On the basis of reservation of strong red hardness, the former emphasizes wear resistance, the chemical analysis of which is greatly different from the material of conventional HSS rolls. At present the HSS rolls have been in the third generation since importing advanced process technology from U.K.. The HSS rolls have changed a lot not only the type of base structure but also the type, shape and distribution of carbide compared to the traditional high Cr cast iron rolls and high Cr steel rolls. The HSS rolls are mainly used for rough stands finishing stands of 4-high medium and wide strip mill.

Alloy Indefinite Chilled Cast Iron Rolls (ICDP)

The ICDP rolls adopt the centrifugal casting method with three layers casting process for getting good metallurgy bonding between shell and core to avoid the alloys permeate each other.

These rolls have good wear resistance and surface finish. That’ s because the certain amount of free graphite exists in the microstructure, and the roll have very good anti-sticky property and anti-fire property. It’ s proved successful used in many different hot strip mills.
